Deer Creek Christian Church Chile Mission was formed on April,
1997, during the Swanson's first furlough. DCCC Chile Mission believes that
it is the responsibility and privilege of the local church to carry out the
Great Commission
wherever God would lead, through the encouragement, discipleship,
equipping, and sending out of its members to all parts of the world.
The mission bears the DCCC name
primarily as a method of receiving receive supporter
contributions. Jack and Janine are primarily accountable to the
Elders of
Deer Creek Christian Church, but also seek to be in
active relationship with all of their supporting churches.
Others who come
to Chile to work with the mission are responsible to the mission itself, in
addition to the Elders of their own particular churches. Jack Swanson serves
as field team leader, with all team members equally working toward achieving
the vision, purposes and goals of the mission.
The main work
of the team is two-fold: one focus having to do with
church planting and development and the other based in
the development of the ministry site, in order to receive and minister to
abandoned children and others in need.
In
addition, DCCC Chile Mission works with other non-connected ministries, such
as the Chilean Bible Training Institute and local live-in drug
rehabilitation centers. All development and construction on the team's
ministry site remains the sole
responsibility of DCCC Chile Mission, including the hiring of staff and
workers.

A
recognized, national identity within the country of operation is important,
unless the political or religious climates makes that impossible. Chile is a
very open country in all respects. It is also important to have an identity that
is based in the nationals of the
country that help carry out the work of the mission, as they are the ones
that give cross-cultural works their roots, momentum and true on-going heritage.
JESÚS
es El Camino (JESUS is The Way) Ministries is the name of the larger
Chilean/U.S. team under which DCCC Chile Mission operates. The main component that carries
out the work of the ministry is the church,
Iglesia Cristiana
“JESÚS
es El Camino”.
This church came into existence in February 2005 and exists to make
Jesus known in every way and to carry out his Great Commission. The
church holds weekly Sunday morning services and Sunday School at the
ministry site. Here below is the vision/mission statement of JESÚS
es El Camino Ministries:
(English)
Reaching and transforming hearts toward Jesus,
bringing hope where there is none.
(Spanish)
Alcanzar y transformar corazones hacia
Jesús, llevando esperanza donde no la hay.
